Community input sought into active transport

Following a Council decision, the committee is being established to promote cycling, walking and other forms of active transport in the Ku-ring-gai area.

Up to five community members are sought for the committee, which will advise the Council on active transport issues including planning and design of infrastructure, behavioural change strategies and community education, among others.

Those applying should have expertise in policy development, change management and strategic planning, or knowledge of transport issues and research. The committee will meet quarterly starting in May.

Mayor Jeff Pettett said the committee would be an important link between the Council and the community.

“We know there are barriers to getting people out of cars and using other forms of transport.”

“Community members on the committee will help us understand what we can do better to integrate cycling and walking into the road network and make them safer and more accessible.”

Nominations for the committee are open at krg.nsw.gov.au/activetransport until Friday 3 March.
Please note positions on the committee are voluntary and unpaid.
