Yesterday evening Council voted to approve the assistance package to organisations helping the Ku-ring-gai community.

This year’s community grants were awarded in three categories: small equipment, community development programs and arts & cultural programs, with 48 applications received.

A total of $95,416 will be distributed to community groups by the Council in coming weeks.

Organisations receiving funding cover a range of target groups including, children, young people, older people, people with disabilities and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

Successful applications range to providing assistance for residents with a disability and support for troubled young people, as well as sporting equipment for scouts and guides and IT equipment for churches and community groups.

Mayor Jeff Pettett said as we emerge from the pandemic our community need the services and facilities local organisations provide even more than ever.

“Community groups do such great work in our community, with limited funds and resources”.

“These grants allow them to purchase much-needed equipment they otherwise couldn't afford, or the opportunity to get important projects up and running”.
