Council support for HSC students

Free dinner, tips on getting university offers and extended HSC study time at Gordon Library are on for local Year 12 students in coming weeks.
Gordon Library and Ku-ring-gai Council’s youth workers are teaming up to provide support for HSC students grappling with exam study over the next few weeks.
Free dinner will be served to HSC students at 6.30pm at the Gordon youth centre on Thursday 28 September and Thursday 5 October.
Gordon Library will be open on those days to Year 12 students for extended study until 10pm, known as the HSC ‘lock-in’.
For downtime between study periods, HSC students are being welcomed at the Gordon youth centre with snacks, games, table tennis and support from youth workers.
Also on Thursday 28 September a free info session will be held at Gordon Library between 4pm and 5pm on maximising the chances of getting the university offers of your choice.
The session gives insider tips to students on applying for university through admission centres and how to get scholarships. To book in go to krg.nsw.gov.au/whatson
Mayor Jeff Pettett said the next few weeks were a critical time for young people in Ku-ring-gai studying for their HSC.
“It’s an exciting time but can also be one of extra stress for students and their families.”
“HSC students can keep studying in the peace and quiet of the library and know that dinner is taken care of as well.”
Bookings are essential for these events; to book email younglibrary@krg.nsw.gov.au or call 9424 0120.
Gordon Library and the youth centre are located at 799 Pacific Highway Gordon.
