Exciting new playground opens at St Ives
A striking spiral slide and a tall timber climbing frame are just some of the highlights at the revamped Village Green playground.
The new playground forms part of the Council’s ‘recreation precinct’ in the area, comprising a new skate park and an upgraded youth hub and community centre.
The playground opened to the public this week with some exciting new features for children of all abilities.
- A tall spiral slide and a conventional slide set amongst three towers
- A nature play area with timber climbers
- A tall wooden climbing frame with a slide attached
- A set of spinners and rockers
The playground area has new sandstone seating and shade cloths installed. There is also a picnic area for families to gather near the playground.
Mayor Jeff Pettett said that with the opening of the playground, the recreation precinct was all but complete.
“The whole area near the Village Green has been transformed in time for the summer holidays,” he said.
Mayor Pettett added that the upgraded community centre and youth hub were being fully utilised after their closure for renovations.
“We’re looking forward to seeing this become a great meeting spot for our residents.”
