The transformation of the Tryon Road car park into a new civic space with underground parking and outdoor dining has been completed.

Mayor Jeff Pettett will officially open the highly anticipated project on Monday 14 February, which has been built at a cost of $30 million.

The Village Green has created a new green space for the centre of Lindfield, capable of hosting markets and outdoor events.

Underneath the Green are three levels of underground parking, including 105 commuter parking spaces and 136 for the general public.

Vehicles will access the Village Green parking via Milray Street, with lifts providing pedestrian access to the car park.

Funding for the commuter car parking was supplied by Transport for NSW under an agreement reached between the Council and the NSW Government.

Other features of the Village Green development are a striking pavilion building with café and outdoor dining facilities. Shared pathways for pedestrians and cyclists surround the Green, connecting to nearby streets and the train station.

Announcing the official opening date today, Mayor Pettett said the project had been completed with the help of the Lindfield community.

“Residents and businesses have contributed in many ways to the project, meaning there is a real sense of ownership.”

“I want to thank the community for their patience during the construction and also the builder Kane Constructions, who have done their best to ease any disruption.”

“I think the outcome is a terrific one for Lindfield and the whole Ku-ring-gai community.”
