Lockdown Live

The Council is presenting the free concert by Pymble-based singing duo Jess and Matt and encouraging local residents to enjoy a takeaway from local restaurants while they tune in.

The Council initiative comes as Sydney’s lockdown enters its third week and stay-at-home orders have been tightened. The free concert will be streamed live on Facebook between 7pm and 8pm on Friday 23 July.

Star couple Jess & Matt, who call Ku-ring-gai home, have attracted an audience around the world thanks to their trademark acoustic harmonies.

After 10 years of performing on Sydney’s live music circuit, Jess & Matt first tasted fame by becoming runners up in The X Factor Australia in 2015.

Since then their singing careers have gone from strength to strength. This month the husband and wife duo’s first original album Wildflowers reached number 1 on the iTunes charts.

Jess and Matt were due to head to Nashville this year to perform but like all musicians, COVID has changed their plans. Instead they are offering a free performance this Friday night and bringing their music live from their home in Pymble where Matt has spent most of his life.

Mayor Jennifer Anderson said the Council was presenting the performance in a bid to boost the spirits of housebound residents and help promote local restaurants offering takeaways and home deliveries.

“We’d encourage you to watch the concert on the Council’s Facebook page and sample some delicious dinner by  Ku-ring-gai eateries while you do so.”

“The concert is open to everyone who wishes to tune in between 7pm and 8pm this Friday night.”
