Severe weather updates

Closures
Due to the recent severe weather conditions, the following steps are in place for Ku-ring-gai:
- Walking tracks and trails have reopened. Walkers are reminded to take care as walking tracks will remain wet for some time. If you come across any damage or fallen trees, please contact Council on 9242 0000.
- To check the status of a particular sportsground please visit our wet weather page.
- Gordon Golf Course is closed until Tuesday 19 April inclusive.
- North Turramurra Gof Course and Proshop are open. The 15th hole will reamin closed and no carts are currently available.
Tree or branch fallen in private property
Please contact SES on 132 500. Please note the SES will respond to high priority property damage, blocked driveways or other potentially life threatening situations. If one of your trees has fallen and does not fit into these categories for a response from SES, then you may need to organise a contractor to remove the tree.
Advice can also be sought from your insurance company.
Tree or branch fallen on Council land
Between the hours of 7am and 5pm, Council will respond to requests for fallen or damaged trees on Council land ie. nature strips, footpaths and roads.
Between the hours of 5pm and 7am Please contact the SES on 132 500 for any issues relating to fallen trees on Council land or private property.
Help with blocked drains or pits
You can report a blocked drain or pit online here.
Between the hours of 7am and 5pm, Council will respond to requests for blocked drains or pits on Council land ie. nature strips, footpaths and roads.
Between the hours of 5pm and 7am please contact the SES on 132 500 for any issues relating to blocked drains or pits on Council land.
Reporting potholes
You can report a pothole on a Council road online here.
For major roads in the Council area please report potholes directly with Transport for NSW here.
Fallen power lines
DO NOT approach, touch, move or come into contact with anything that is touching a power line. Assume all power lines are live until dealt with by Ausgrid. Where power lines and trees are involved please call Ausgrid on 131 388.
Power outages
If you are experiencing a power outage and want to check when power will be restored check Ausgrid outages website.
What to do if your property is affected by flooding
This advice is provided by the Insurance Council of Australia
- You can start cleaning up but first take pictures or videos of damage to the property and possessions as evidence for your claim.
- Keep samples of materials and fabrics to show your insurance assessor.
- Remove water damaged goods from your property that might pose a health risk, such as saturated carpets and soft furnishings.
- Make a list of each item damaged and include a detailed description, such as brand, model, and serial number if possible.
- If water has entered the property, do not turn on your electricity until it has been inspected by an electrician.
- Store damaged or destroyed items somewhere safe where they do not pose a health risk.
- Speak to your insurer before you attempt or authorise any building work, including emergency repairs, and ask for the insurer’s permission in writing. Unauthorised work may not be covered by your policy.
- Do not throw away goods that could be salvaged or repaired.
