The primary role of the Status of Women 's Advisory Committee is to provide advice, advocate and raise awareness of issues that impact women in the Ku-ring-gai community.

It will identify and participate in projects, activities and opportunities that promote the inclusion of women in the community. It includes members of the community representing women’s organisations and issues. 

The Committee will comprise a maximum of 15 community members and two Councillors which may include the Mayor. Council sought representatives from the following target groups:

  • Women who represent women’s organisations.
  • Business and professional women.
  • Indigenous women.
  • Women from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
  • Young women under the age of 25.
  • Women who have previous advocacy experience highlighting women’s issues.
  • Individuals with specialist skills and professional interest in women’s health and wellbeing.
  • Individuals with lived or professional experience working in LGBTQI+ communities.
  • Engaged community members.

Other women may be co-opted from time to time by the Committee if required.

Nominations needed to address the following selection criteria:

  • Previous contribution to improving the status or participation of women.
  • Experience in providing advice that would assist Council in strengthening women's inclusion in community and civic life.
  • Experience representing one of the identified target groups.
