Planning for the future

Council is preparing new plans and strategies to guide future planning across the Ku-ring-gai local government area. This follows the release of the Greater Sydney Commission’s two key planning documents - A Metropolis of Three Cities and the North District Plan.

The Greater Sydney Commission is a NSW Government agency whose aim is to integrate long-term planning for Sydney and its surroundings in terms of employment, housing, transport and infrastructure. Amendments to the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 requires councils including Ku-ring-gai to realign their current planning documents to meet the Commission’s aims. As a result, Ku-ring-gai Council’s Local Environmental Plan (LEP) is being reviewed to ensure that it aligns with the priorities outlined in these plans.
