Local Citizen of the Year Awards
Each year on Australia Day we recognise the outstanding work of our community’s unsung heroes with the Local Citizen of the Year Awards.
These awards honour people and organisations who generously give their time and effort to help others and improve the Ku-ring-gai community.
The Local Citizen of the Year Awards aim to recognise residents of Ku-ring-gai who have demonstrated excellent citizenship and contribution to the people of Ku-ring-gai or the wider community.
Australian Citizenship ceremonies
Ku-ring-gai Council will be hosting online Australian Citizenship Ceremonies Monday through to Wednesday during business hours commencing Monday 2 August.
When the Department of Home Affairs have approved your application they will inform you by letter. You must then wait for the Department of Home Affairs to advise Ku-ring-gai Council of the date and time of the ceremony which they have allocated you.
Council will then immediately advise you of the date and time of your ceremony and other relevant information via email. Please ensure all details are up to date in your Immi account.
Ku-ring-gai Council will invite you to attend a online Australian Citizenship Ceremony based on your approval date. Please note that as per your approval letter from the Department of Home Affairs the ceremony can take place up to 6 months from your approval date.
If you have an urgent ceremony request please email the Department of Home Affairs firstname.lastname@example.org along with supporting evidence of your request.
If you have been approved but have not received a letter from Council, and you have any enquiries about the date of your ceremony you can call the Citizenship Information Line on 131 880.
- All client information is handled by Department of Home Affairs, NOT Council.
- Only the Department of Home Affairs can allocate clients to attend a ceremony, NOT Council.
Please note: Quite often the Department of Immigration Customer Service line advises clients to contact the local Council for information in regards to ceremonies. This information is not correct. Until Council has been informed that a person has been allocated to the next ceremony, we do not have access to any client information.
All enquiries regarding Australian Citizenship must be referred to: The Department of Home Affairs on 131 880.
If you have already been approved for Australian Citizenship please request to speak to the “Citizenship Ceremonies Section”.
Each year on at 11am on November 11 we observe a minutes silence to remember those who sacrificed their lives in all wars and armed conflicts. The Roseville Club in conjunction with Ku-ring-gai Council hosts a ceremony in Roseville each year.
On 25 April all Australians come together for remembrance. There are several Anzac services in Ku-ring-gai including Roseville, Wahroonga, St Ives, West Pymble and Turramurra.
