Start/finish: End of Kingsford Avenue, South Turramurra. You can also access the track via Canoon Road near the netball courts or from the linking track off Cove Street. Links with the Great North Walk - keep an eye out for directional markers.

Description: Features of this walk include scenic outlooks of the upper Lane Cove River valley, rock outcrops, heath, woodlands, closed forest and quiet shady creeks. The area offers excellent bird watching opportunities for bushland species such as Grey Fantails, Yellow Robins and Red-browed Finches. You may even see uncommon or rare birds like the Pacific Baza, Powerful Owl or Gang Gang Cockatoo. Quiet observers may see other wildlife including frogs, water dragons or native fish in and around the creeks.
The track gets its name from a local environmental group, STEP Inc, which provides several maps and books of walking tracks in the upper Lane Cove valley.
