Pet registration audit

South Turramurra pet registration payment audit – March 2026

In NSW, a person keeping a dog or cat must register the animal on a state-wide register. One of the most important reasons is to return your pet if it goes missing.

Your pet should have already been microchipped with its own unique microchip when it was very young.

When a dog or cat reaches 12 weeks of age, lifetime registration must be paid for on the NSW Pet Registry.

Council follows up on unpaid lifetime registration for cats and dogs on a regular basis, one area at a time and we are currently sending letters to owners of cats and dogs in South Turramurra, whose animals have not paid lifetime registration.

Owners have 21 days from the date of the letter and if the lifetime registration is not paid, they may be fined under NSW Government legislation.

You can pay for lifetime registration for your animal online on the NSW Pet Registry. You can also attend Council's customer service centre.

Please contact Council if you have any further queries at krg@krg.nsw.gov.au or 9424 0000.

Your co-operation in attending to your pet’s registration payment is greatly appreciated.
