Council unveils new plan to engage with community
Published on 29 July 2025
Ku-ring-gai residents are encouraged to have their say on a new strategy on community engagement and participation.
The draft Community Engagement Strategy, which incorporates the Community Participation Plan, is currently on public exhibition and open for community feedback.
The strategy aims to encourage participation in local decision-making, ensuring everyone in the community has an opportunity to be heard.
Through the strategy, Council will work to improve transparency in decision making processes and build a solid foundation of trust between the community and Council.
Ku-ring-gai Mayor Christine Kay said the success of Council’s projects and policies was dependent on the active involvement of the community.
“Community is at the heart of everything we do at Ku-ring-gai. By listening to diverse voices and encouraging meaningful discussions, we can make better decisions that truly reflect the needs and aspirations of our community,” Mayor Kay said.
“The local knowledge, experience and insights of our ratepayers, residents, local businesses, community groups and stakeholders continue to shape and inform the decisions Council makes and the projects and services we deliver.
“We’ve released a new draft plan on how we will engage with the community and encourage community participation to help shape the future of Ku-ring-gai. I encourage you to review the draft strategy and have your say.”
The draft strategy is on public exhibition until 1 September 2025. To review the strategy and provide feedback visit Your Say.
