The 2025 community grants and sponsorship program will distribute nearly $192,000 in funding to organisations and groups in the Ku-ring-gai area.

The Council voted unanimously to approve the funding at its August meeting this week.

This year’s community grants were awarded in three categories: small equipment, community development programs and arts & cultural programs, with 53 applications received.

A total of $93,700 will be distributed to sporting groups, scout troops, schools, charities, churches and other community groups which are all set to benefit from the funding.

Nearly $30,000 will be distributed and spent on small equipment, ranging from PCs through to sporting gear. Around $40,000 will be distributed to groups ranging from Lifestart Disability Services and St Lucy’s School through to the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Women’s Shelter and Empowering Parents in Crisis.

Arts and cultural groups in the local area will receive a total of nearly $26,000, with grants going to The Cathedral Singers, Chabad North Shore, Marian Street Theatre for Young People and the Ku-ring-gai Youth Orchestra.

The Council’s events and sponsorship program will see $93,900 distributed to various organisations for events and cultural activities in the Ku-ring-gai area. Among those benefitting include the Marian Street Theatre for Young People, the Ku-ring-gai Philharmonic Orchestra, the Wahroonga Village Fair, the Pymble Fun Run and the Ku-ring-gai Art Society.

Mayor Christine Kay said the Council’s both grant programs were vital for many groups that provided residents with services and events.

“The grant program always attracts high quality applications and funds interesting and worthwhile work in our community.”
