Ku-ring-gai Council is seeking community feedback on a plan to create a new park in Dumaresq Street Gordon.

The Council purchased three neighbouring properties in Dumaresq Street to create a park as part of its award-winning open space acquisition policy.

The policy seeks to create parks and playgrounds for Ku-ring-gai residents in areas of high population density.

When built, the park at 9 Dumaresq Street will provide a new green space for residents and workers in Gordon close to local shops and services.

The new park will have level grassed areas and access will be improved by removing fencing and a pathway from Dumaresq Street. The park will also be landscaped and have seating and litter bins, with existing mature trees retained.

A draft concept plan is on public exhibition for comment until 12 June.

Mayor Sam Ngai said the park would ultimately be a welcome addition to central Gordon.

“It will be more important than ever for the Council to create this new park in light of the NSW Government’s plans to add 5,000 new dwellings to this precinct within 15 years,” he said.

The Mayor added that comments from residents would be incorporated into a final design for the park.

“If you live close to the centre of Gordon I’d encourage you to have a say on this important piece of open space.”
