Heritage Reference Committee member nomination

Council is seeking volunteers to fill 2 vacant community member positions on its Heritage Reference Committee.
The Heritage Reference Committee is an independent advisory body that promotes, conserves and protects heritage in Ku-ring-gai. The Committee provides advice on heritage listings, supports conservation and helps build community understanding of local heritage. It also plays a key role in advising on the implementation of the Ku-ring-gai Heritage Home Grants Program.
We are seeking individuals to fill the following positions:
Community representative
A resident of Ku-ring-gai who preferably has knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas: Archaeology; built heritage, architecture; environmental heritage; NSW or Australian history; moveable heritage; planning; cultural landscapes.
Community representative – Aboriginal Heritage
A community representative with experience in Aboriginal heritage, cultural knowledge or cultural authority and skills in areas such as heritage, planning, archaeology, history, community engagement, or other relevant fields.
Committee meetings
The Heritage Reference Committee meets monthly on a Thursday at the Council Administration Building. Meetings commence at 12.30pm and generally run for 1 hour. Members may also attend meetings via teleconference. From time to time, additional out-of-session and/or off-site meetings may be held.

Council is looking for people with a passion for heritage and in the interest of broadening the diversity of our committee, we would particularly welcome nominations from Aboriginal people, younger people and those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Please note that successful applicants must be willing to commit to a minimum of one year on the committee.
