Streamwatch Training

Learn how to safely monitor the health of our local creeks.

The Streamwatch program undertakes ecological investigation of local waterways. It acts as an early warning system for pollution events, while the data provides a valuable record of waterway health. The collected data has helped identify water quality issues such as greywater system leakages, new waterweed incursions and litter and pollution events from industrial run off. We are looking for community members with a keen interest in collecting and recording environmental data in our local waterways. Generally working in pairs, the process takes about an hour in the field and 30 mins to upload the information onto your computer. Water samples are collected monthly from designated waterway sites.

Bring: Drinking water and a snack.

Wear: Outdoor clothing; long sleeved shirt, long trousers and sturdy closed toe footwear, hat and sunglasses.

Bookings are essential as there are limited numbers available.
