Other dog nuisance behaviours
Some other dog nuisance behaviours are regulated by law:
- Dogs escaping.
- Dogs defecating.
- Dogs running at or chasing people or animals.
- Dogs being a danger to people or animals.
- Dogs causing damage.
If any of these are happening on a regular basis and the dog owner does nothing to improve their dog’s behaviour, you can report the issue to Council.
Please provide us with as much documentation of the problem as possible. Evidence includes witness statements, photos, video footage etc.
If we can establish the behaviour is happening regularly, a Nuisance Order may be placed on the dog. This order requires the owner to prevent the behaviour from occurring.
If the behaviour after a Nuisance Order is placed on the dog, Council may issue fines to the owner.
