Lost and found pets
Council can assist in reuniting pet owners with their furry friends.
Lost pets
If you have lost your pet please notify Council by lodging an online request.
A Council Officer will contact you to update your contact details and flag the animal as "missing" on the NSW Companion Animal Register. You may also wish to contact the local vets, pounds and neighbours.

Dogs
If you've found a dog, first check for a tag with the owner's contact details or address.
If you're unable to locate the owner, please contact Council on 02 9424 0000. A Council Officer will attend to scan the dog for a microchip and either return it to its owner or take it to the Ku-ring-gai Pound.
If you find a dog after-hours you can take it to the Ku-ring-gai Pound or a local vet may accept the dog until a Council Officer can collect it.
Cats
If you've found a cat, please make every effort to reunite it with its owner. This may include asking neighbours, checking for a collar or tag or allowing time for the cat to return home on its own.
If the owner cannot be found and you believe the cat is lost you can take the cat to the Ku-ring-gai Pound or visit a local vet to have the cat scanned for a microchip.
Please note: Council Officers will only collect cats in exceptional circumstances.
Other pets
If you've found another type of animal (e.g. bird, rabbit, etc.), please contact:
These organisations may be able to assist with locating the owner or rehoming the animal after a holding period.
