Council parking

Tickletless parking starting on Monday 7 July

Ku-ring-gai Council will introduce a new payment system at the car park from Monday 7 July.

Under the new system, users will no longer be required to display tickets on their dashboard. This change is being made to simplify and streamline the parking experience.

During the installation of the new system, a temporary fee waiver will be in place. No ticket display will be required during this time.

Once the new parking system goes live on Monday 7 July, the normal flat rate will apply.

Parking rates

A flat rate of $8.50 per day applies for parking Monday to Friday, 8am - 6pm.

Payment methods

Pre-payment is essential. After parking, users have two options to pay: via the on-site payment machines or on their phones using the PayStay app.

1) Payment machines

Tickless parking has been introduced. The installed payment machines will prompt users to enter their vehicle registration numbers and complete payment.

2) PayStay

PayStay units are small blue boxes requiring smartphone use. Users can then make payments via the PayStay Guest website or PayStay App (Apple and Google Play).

To begin, hold your smartphone close to the box or scan the QR code on the front. This will redirect you to the PayStay Guest website. If you have the PayStay app installed, you'll be taken directly to the app instead.

You’ll then be prompted to enter your vehicle registration, state, mobile number, and the duration of stay before proceeding to payment.

Instructions on how to pay

  1. Hold your smart phone close to the PayStay box and follow the prompts on your phone. Alternatively scan the QR code.
  2. If you have already created a PayStay app account, you will be taken directly to the app to pay.
  3. If you don’t have a PayStay account you will be taken to the PayStay Guest website to pay without an account.
  4. Using the PayStay Guest website, enter your number plate, state and mobile number and press ‘Continue’.
  5. Select the duration of time you’d like to park for and press ‘Continue’.
  6. Choose your preferred card and press ‘Continue’. You can also pay with Apple Pay or Google Pay.
  7. The parking duration period, parking end time and final payment will be shown on the screen.
  8. If you would like an e-receipt, select ‘Yes’ to email or download a copy

Instructions on how to download the PayStay app

  1. Go to the Apple App Store or Google Play and download the ‘PayStay’ app.
  2. Open the app and create an account by entering your mobile phone number.
  3. An SMS text verification security code will be sent to your phone number.
  4. Enter your email, name, postcode, number plate, and card details and generate a password. These details will be saved in the app. You can also sign up with an Apple or Google account.
  5. Set up your account balance by adding your top-up amount and top-up threshold. When your account balance reaches its top-up threshold, it will be replenished automatically by your top-up amount, ensuring there is always money available for parking.
  6. You will be asked to verify your email address.
  7. Once you have parked, open the app and enter the parking bay zone number – this should be located on a nearby parking sign. You can also search for the zone number in the app via a location pin map.
  8. Tap ‘Start Parking’ and the confirmation banner ‘Parking Started’ will appear.
  9. When leaving your parking bay, press ‘Stop’ to end your parking session.

Please note: PayStay charges a surcharge of 8.25% on all transactions. This fee does not go to Council.
