View the report considered by Council together with the draft Code.

The draft Code is based on the Model Code of Meeting Practice released by the Office of Local Government and prescribed under the Local Government (General) Regulation 2021 (The Regulation).

Council is required to adopt a Code of Meeting Practice, within 12 months of the local government elections, which incorporates mandatory provisions of the Model Meeting Code prescribed by the Regulation.

The new Model Meeting Code contains new mandatory provisions such as the inclusion of the oath or affirmation of office to be included in business papers and non-mandatory provisions relating to attendance of meetings by audio-visual link.

Council is required to exhibit the draft Code prior to adoption and following public exhibition the matter will be reported back to Council at its meeting on 28 June 2022 to consider submissions and adoption of the draft Code.
