The Hawkesbury–Nepean river system is one of NSW's most significant waterways. As part of its catchment, Ku-ring-gai has a real stake in how it is managed.
The draft Hawkesbury–Nepean River System Coastal Management Program (CMP) is on public exhibition from 20 April to 31 May 2026.
The CMP will set the long-term strategy for managing the Hawkesbury–Nepean river system, developed in line with the NSW state government's coastal management framework.
It has been six years in the making and sets out a 10-year plan to improve water quality, protect ecosystems and cultural heritage, reduce coastal hazard risks and strengthen governance across the river system.
We encourage the Ku-ring-gai community to review the draft and share their feedback before the program is finalised.
