About
The main goal of the strategy is for Ku-ring-gai to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by the year 2040. This is in line with the Paris Agreement and the federal government’s stated goals on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and the effects of climate change.
A range of actions is proposed to achieve net zero emissions in Ku-ring-gai by 2040. These include buying green and renewable energy, electrification projects, providing more sustainable transport options, increasing recycling of waste and land rehabilitation.
Ongoing community education is also identified by the Strategy as being crucial to its success.
The Council voted at its August 2022 meeting to place the draft Net Zero Strategy on public exhibition for feedback from the community. The Strategy was developed over the last six months with input from local residents and businesses through discussion groups and surveys.
Comments on the Net Zero Communities Strategy close 5pm on Friday 16 September.
