Jewellery rehash

Next date: Saturday, 23 August 2025 | 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM

jewellery-rehash

Jewellery rehash is a fun, hands-on 2.5hr event where participants creatively repair and upcycle broken or unwanted costume jewellery into new, wearable items. Instead of heading to landfill, these pieces are reimagined into necklaces, bracelets, keyring charms, or spectacle holders.

Participants will:

• Gain hands-on skills in reuse and repair

• Learn about the environmental impact of fast fashion and jewellery

• Be introduced to circular economy principles

• Connect with others in a creative, low-pressure environment

• Learn about local initiatives like Repair Cafés and Libraries of Things

Facilitator

Bridget Kennedy is a professional contemporary jewellery artist, experienced teacher and sustainability advocate. As an artist with a background in painting and contemporary jewellery, her more recent creative projects have explored participatory installations and the viewer as participant to activate the artwork. Other projects incorporating community activation continue an ongoing enquiry into environmental fragility, materiality, impermanence, choice, value and exchange.

This workshop is funded by Ku-ring-gai Council's Environmental Levy.

The Ku-ring-gai Wildflower Garden is one of Sydney's best kept secrets, set across 123 hectares of unique urban bushland and home to two endangered ecological communities as well as 18 threatened species of flora and fauna.
