Extreme fire danger rating and total fire ban - Friday 27 December

A fire danger rating of extreme has been forecast for Friday 27 December. 

The following areas will be closed today:

  • Council bushland reserves.
  • Bushwalking tracks (except for parts of the Solander Track – contact Ku-ring-gai Wildflower Garden Visitor Centre for details).
  • Fire trails.
  • Mountain bike tracks.

The Visitor Centre, Caley’s Pavilion, picnic areas and playgrounds at Ku-ring-gai Wildflower Garden remain open, as do picnic areas, playgrounds and other facilities at St Ives Showground.

A total fire ban is also in effect. This means:

  • No fires may be lit or maintained in the open.
  • No hot works (eg welding, grinding etc) may be carried out in the open.
  • The use of gas and electric barbecues is permitted, but only under strict conditions.
