Songs and conversations: evenings at Ku-ring-gai Library

Brighten up your weeknights with a series of evening events at Ku-ring-gai Library, running from October to December.
As part of Ku-ring-gai Council’s commitment to fostering a vibrant and inclusive night-time economy, the library is hosting a diverse program of evening events – from thought-provoking panel discussions to literary talks and festive music.
Upcoming free events at Gordon Library include:
Growing Up Indian in Australia – Panel Discussion
Thursday 30 October, 6.30pm–7.30pm
Join journalist and editor Aarti Betigeri as she leads a panel discussion with contributors to the anthology Growing Up Indian in Australia. Panelists Elana Benjamin, Rachael Jacobs and Sharon Verghis will share personal stories of identity, culture and community. This compelling conversation explores what it means to grow up Indian in a multicultural Australia.
Susannah Fullerton on Great Writers and the Cats Who Owned Them
Wednesday 5 November, 6.30pm–7.30pm
Love books and cats? Then don’t miss author Susannah Fullerton as she reveals the quirky and heartwarming relationships between 17 famous writers and their purring partners.
Explore the special bond between renowned writers, such as Charles Dickens and LM Montgomery, their feline companions – as well as the works they inspired.
Carols with the Challis Singers
Wednesday 4 December, 7pm–8pm
Celebrate the silly season with the much-loved Challis Singers, returning to Gordon Library for an uplifting evening of carols. Enjoy festive music, community spirit, and light refreshments as we farewell 2025 together. Bookings essential – spaces are limited.
Mayor Christine Kay said evening events at the library were all part of Council’s efforts to enhancing Ku-ring-gai’s cultural and social life in the evenings.
“With Ku-ring-gai’s population expected to grow significantly over the next 15 years, it’s essential we plan for safe and engaging events and spaces for all people to enjoy at night,” Mayor Kay said.
“Our Night-Time Economy Action Plan will enrich Ku-ring-gai’s cultural and social scene, making it an even greater place to live.”
