Actor Michael Caton recently experienced first hand the need to tackle one of the nation’s deadliest and most neglected health crises: falls among older people. You are more likely to fall and break bones if you are frail. Half of all people over 85 are frail and nearly 2 in 5 frail people die in hospital.

As volunteers we have organised an early evening community event on 27 November at Killara Golf Club (6-8.30pm) featuring special guest Professor Susan Kurrle (geriatrician from North Sydney Local Health District and the brains-trust behind “Old People’s Home for Four-Year-Olds”). We invite you to attend this event. You will hear the evidence for what can be done to prevent frailty, which is the leading cause of people experiencing falls and breaking bones as they age.
