Library After Hours Foyer

Library access, day or night!

Gordon Library is introducing Gordon 24/7 foyer, a new service that allows registered Ku-ring-gai library members to access library space and services outside regular opening hours. This initiative supports our community’s changing lifestyles by offering greater flexibility, convenience and access to library resources - anytime.

Gordon 24/7 foyer provides self‑service access to the library during unstaffed hours, allowing members to use the library foyer safely and independently.

What it includes

  • Use free Wi‑Fi
  • Study in a shared study area
  • Relax in comfortable reading and seating zones.

Who can access the foyer

Access to the foyer can be granted to:

  • All Ku‑ring‑gai Library members
  • Aged 17 years and over
  • Members who have registered and completed the required induction.

Once registered, approved Ku-ring-gai Library members can access the foyer 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, outside of Gordon Library’s regular staffed hours.

Evolving community access

Gordon 24/7 foyer has been introduced to better reflect how our community lives, works and studies today. By offering greater flexibility, Gordon Library continues to adapt to real lives and diverse schedules. This service:

  • Supports shift workers, students and carers.
  • Provides access for people who can’t visit during standard hours
  • Helps reduce congestion during peak times.
  • Encourages the library’s role as a modern, inclusive community hub
  • Expands access to safe study, learning and connection beyond opening hours.

Safety and security

Your safety is a priority. A range of security measures are in place during unstaffed hours, including:

  • CCTV monitoring
  • Duress alarms
  • Controlled access for registered Ku-ring-gai Library members only.

These measures help ensure the foyer remains in a safe and welcoming space at all times.
