Sequoia Close playground

Council is upgrading the playground at Sequoia Close Park in West Pymble.

This playspace is categorised as a local playground. Local playgrounds generally cater for residents within walking distance and are not designed to attract users from much further afield. The upgrade is part of Council wider program of works to improve playgrounds across Ku-ring-gai as outlined in the Ku-ring-gai Play Space Strategy.

The goal for the upgrade is to create an attractive, engaging and inclusive community place for everyone to enjoy. It will be a place to meet, play and relax that enhances the local neighbourhood and growing residential community.

Concept design for the upgrade

Council has now developed a the concept plan for the upgrade. The extensive community input received during consultation has shaped the plan. We are now delivering an inclusive play space based on this feedback.

The concept design for this local park includes:

  • Improved accessibility to the area where practical.
  • Inter-generational play components.
  • Enhanced natural aspects to encourage nature play.
  • A range of passive, imaginative and active play activities.
  • A drinking fountain.
  • A mix of rubber softfall and mulch surfacing.

What happens next

We will now progress with the detailed design of the playground based on the concept plan. Note that as the project goes through the detailed design and construction process the final plan may need some changes.

We aim to begin construction in October/November 2023, pending the outcome of the tendering process.
