E 2419 Slow Stitching

A gentle textile class focused on the idea of re-use, repurposing and recycling where you will create thoughtful handmade fabric projects. Slow stitching focuses on ideas such as ‘make do and mend’; it is an expression of individual creativity using hand stitching with basic stitches in a mindful, meditative and leisurely way.

Slow stitching expresses the philosophy of the Slow Movement, reducing stress and anxiety, reducing waste by mending and repurposing textiles to counterbalance the speed of modern day life. Accepting imperfection is a fundamental aspect of slow stitch, the beauty of scraps of cloth and irregular stitches, frayed edges and the individual stitch marks of the creator.

Level: Open
