The Council plans to spend nearly $65 million on capital works and other projects in the 2024-2025 financial year.

The spending plan is outlined in the revised 2022-2026 Delivery Program and draft 2024-2025 Operational Plan, which are on public exhibition between Friday 19 April and Thursday 16 May.

If adopted by the Council, Ku-ring-gai residents will benefit from $57 million worth of capital works on roads, footpaths, sportsfields, local centres and a further $7.8 million on other projects next financial year.

Key highlights include:

  • $11.7 million for upgrading local roads
  • $9.9 million for local centre improvements
  • $9.4 million for the new indoor sports centre at St Ives High School
  • $6.4 million for upgrades to parks
  • $3.9 million for community partnerships to improve the environment
  • $3.3 million for sporting facilities and playgrounds
  • $2 million for upgrading footpaths
  • $1.7 million for drainage and stormwater upgrades
  • $1.6 million for refurbishment of public toilets and amenities
  • $1.3 million for traffic improvements
  • $775,000 for new library resources
  • $693,000 for biodiversity projects

Other plans on exhibition for public comment include the revised 10-year Long Term Financial Plan, the proposed fees and charges for the 2024-2025 financial year, the Council’s 10-year Asset Management Strategy and its Workforce Management Strategy.

Following the public exhibition and a review of comments received, the Council will make a final decision in June on the budget for the new financial year.

Mayor Sam Ngai said the proposed budget and operational plan reflected the Council’s focus on capital works.

“Our roads and local shopping centres will see some major improvements as well as sporting facilities,” he said.
