Reimagining urban plantings: the Sydney Woody Meadows project

Learn about Ku-ring-gai's Woody Meadow, recently planted in St Ives Chase, and how you can plant to support native pollinators with Dr Caragh Threlfall, ARC DECRA Fellow & Senior Lecturer - School of Natural Sciences, Macquarie University.

Woody meadows are diverse and densely planted areas that encourage small birds and insects such as native bees and are specifically designed to improve the quality of urban landscapes.

Caragh will present the Sydney Woody Meadows project, which aims to implement and assess woody meadows as a new, cost-effective, engaging and biodiversity-friendly approach to urban greening that goes beyond the provision of canopy cover to also support pollinator biodiversity and connect people with nature.
