Ku-ring-gai Council is offering nearly $100,000 in grants to local community groups and organisations.

The annual grants are offered for equipment, outreach services and cultural activities.

Community groups and other organisations such as service clubs can apply for grants in the following three categories:  small equipment, community development programs and arts & cultural programs.

Applications open on 1 May and close on 2 June.

Grants of up to $2000 are available for small equipment such as PCs or tools. Up to $5000 is available for community development services and arts and cultural activities.

Examples of projects successful in gaining funding last year include $3600 for the Ku-ring-gai Male Choir; $4000 for the Shepherd Centre for a children’s musical therapy program; $4000 for Action for People with a Disability to hold two financial and estate planning workshops and two defibrillators for St John Ambulance and Wahroonga Rotary.

Mayor Jeff Pettett said Council staff would hold a free grants information workshop for organisations wishing to apply on Friday 5 May from 10.30am to 12 noon at the Council Chambers in Gordon.

“Community groups do such great work, often on very small budgets.”

“The workshop will identify priority funding areas and help you understand how to put together a successful application. Or jump on our website to see the guidelines and projects funded last year.”
