Enter your students in the 2024 competition!

Primary school students (Years 1-6) across Ku-ring-gai are invited to submit words and illustrations about a favourite animal, plant, tree or special place in our local bushland, parks and gardens, sharing their love and respect for the green heart of Sydney in this annual poetry competition. Entries must feature a Ku-ring-gai or surrounding suburb place, plant or animal.

Prizes include

  • Tree Tops Adventure vouchers
  • Ku-ring-gai Wildflower Garden Junior Ranger vouchers
  • Children’s and environmental books.

Step-by-step application process for teachers*

  1. Prepare your class to write and illustrate poems about nature, making sure the writing is clear and dark (no pencil) and that the artwork is colourful and bright (with only first names added).
  2. Read the Terms and conditions for important information.
  3. Pick up to 5 poems per class to enter into the competition.
  4. Scan the poems and artwork on a photocopier or with a scanning app and save the files as JPG or PDF format.
  5. Upload the selected poems and artwork into the online application form (poems can also be typed).
  6. Add your contact details.
  7. Submit your entry by 15 November 2024 and wait to hear back by the end of the school year!

*We recommend that teachers guide their students as they create their entries, however parents and home schoolers are also welcome to submit entries.
