Ku-ring-gai Council has completed a significant upgrade of the Lorraine Taylor Reserve playground at St Ives.

Children and families will be delighted with the reopening of Lorraine Taylor playground, previously known as Athena Avenue Reserve.

The Reserve was renamed in honour of local volunteer and St Ives community stalwart Lorraine Taylor, who passed away in 2015.

The new playground has an accessible carousel, swings and multi-functional play equipment, while parents can enjoy a moment of peace in the relaxing landscaped grounds.

The new playground includes:

  • play equipment catering for a range of age groups and abilities;
  • an accessible circuit path;
  • rubber and mulch softfall surfaces;
  • nature-based play features;
  • associated landscaping works;
  • formal and informal seating options;
  • accessible drinking fountain and bin.

The design of the playground was informed by community consultation.

Lorraine Taylor playground is located at the corner of Athena Avenue and Hayle Street, St Ives.
