Sustainability rebates
Council is offering up to $3,000 in rebates per household on a range of energy solutions to create a low-cost, healthy efficient home. These can be claimed once within a five-year period helping you go on a journey to electrify your home!
How to apply
- Check eligibility criteria in the dropdown sections below. Review the eligibility criteria for your chosen rebate. To be eligible your product must have been installed or undertaken 12 months from the date listed on your final invoice.
- Request pre-approval
- Purchase product from your chosen provider or installer. Ensure that your purchase meets the eligibility criteria for your chosen rebate.
- Submit final claim form along with a zero-balance invoice detailing your sustainable product or other proof of purchase.
- Receive your rebate.
If your claim is approved by Council, you will receive your rebate via electronic bank transfer.
Solar PV
Rebate value: 50% of cost up to $500
- Must be a new solar PV installation (not replacing a pre-existing system).
- Minimum of 5kW capacity or addition to existing system to 5kW or greater capacity.
- Home owner must use a Solar Accreditation Australia accredited installer.
- Home owner must not have applied for solar PV rebate in the last five years.

Solar battery
Rebate value: 50% of cost up to $500
- This rebate is offered for a battery installation connected to new or existing solar system.
- The home owner must use a Solar Accreditation Australia accredited installer.
- The home owner must not have applied for battery rebate in last five years.
Induction cooktop
Rebate value: 50% of cost up to $500
- The new induction cooktop must be replacing gas or normal electric cooktop.
- The home owner must not have applied for induction rebate in last five years.
Insulation
Rebate value: 50% of cost up to $500
- The new insulation must achieve minimum R-values of:
- 4.0 for roof insulation
- 2.5 for wall insulation
- 2.0 for underfloor insulation.
- The insulation must be installed by a professional installer.
- The home owner must not have applied for insulation rebate in last five years.

Windows
Rebate value: 50% of cost up to $500
This rebate applies to window retrofits of secondary glaze, external shutters or shading device only,
OR
New window replacements which must have a minimum combined heating and cooling U-value below 4.
The home owner must not have applied for a windows rebate in last five years.

Hot water heat pump
Rebate value: 50% of cost up to $500
- The new hot water system must use solar or electric heat pump technology.
- The new system must be replacing an electric or gas storage system or an instantaneous gas or electric system.
- The home owner must not have applied for hot water rebate in last five years.
Pool pump
Rebate value: $250
- The new pump must be replacing a single speed pool pump with a multi or variable speed pump.
- The new pool pump must have an energy star rating of a minimum of 6 stars. See: Pool pumps | Energy Rating Calculator
- Previous pool pump recipients cannot apply.
Sustainability rebates are exclusively for Ku-ring-gai residents and are funded by Ku-ring-gai Council’s Environmental Levy.
